Nearly there!

As you know, Dr Nico de Klerk is walking across South Africa from Pretoria to Cape Town in just less than four months. Have a look at the video below where he is celebrating reaching the 2 000 kilometers walked mark (that’s 1 242 miles!) with a group of youngster who are not in school and not employed … exactly the people he’s trying to reach. They’re just outside of Barrydale in the Western Cape in South Africa at this point.

Make it personal …

Do you celebrate your victories? So often we forget to do this in the midst of hard times as an entrepreneur.

So … grab a piece of paper or open your note app on your device … and write down no less than TEN times when you were proud of something you did the past MONTH.

It doesn’t have to be big things … it can be simply keeping your cool in a difficult discussion, or deciding to skip coffee so that you can work on your business plan … anything and everything is fine.

As long as you remember to celebrate it!

#resilience = #entrepreneur

The link between pilgrimages and entrepreneurship

Have a look at the following interview done by Martelize Brink and Johan Rademan of RSG with Dr Nico de Klerk in which he talks about the concept of a pilgrimage, his learnings on his own pilgrimages, including the Camino de Santiago in Span, and the Long Walk Project in which he, as CEO of the StreetBiz Foundation, is walking across South Africa over a period of four months, talking to, and listening to entrepreneurs at grassroots level.

The interview is in Afrikaans, but English captions have been added, and images added of Dr de Klerk’s experiences when he walked the Camino de Santiago in Spain, and also of his pilgrimage across South Africa, the Long Walk Project by the StreetBiz Foundation.

Make it personal …

Have you ever been on a pilgrimage?

And no, it doesn’t have to have been “a real one” like:

Yes, of course join a “real pilgrimage”. But you can also, as Dr de Klerk explains in the video, design your OWN pilgrimage – as real as any of the ones above.

So do that … see how how much time you can set aside for you pilgrimage and design a route for yourself.

And then walk it.

And deal with things you haven’t yet dealt with.

Dream new dreams and find a bit of yourself that you might have lost along the way, or might not even have discovered yet.

Do this.

Today.

Learn about knots at Ellies Coffee

Dr Nico de Klerk and his guests share their thoughts on mindset change and entrepreneurship in the Walk&Talk video series. Learn about knots from Elroy Roos at Ellies Coffee in George. Dr Nico de Klerk talked to Elroy when he popped in for coffee during his Long Walk Project … and walked out inspired! This is one video that you HAVE to watch! If you’re in George, please pop in to Ellies Coffee and support Elroy. You can also like his Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/ElliesCoffee/

Make it personal …

  • Have you come to the end of your rope? What did you think of Elroy’s advice about how he handled tough times in his own life – by making a knot right there at the end of the rope … and just hanging on for a moment longer?
  • Something else that Elroy explained was his journey in getting his coffee shop … how it started with a dream … but before the dream became a reality, he first trained and upskilled himself in the art of making great coffee, then saved for three years while he worked full time, then bought the equipment, then grabbed the opportunity … and then opened his shop. Where are you on your own journey? Make some notes about areas where you can fill some gaps – maybe you need to acquire a skill by watching some YouTube videos orĀ  working with someone or doing an online course. Maybe you need to do a job that you don’t feel passionate about so that you can save enough to buy equipment or pay rent or pay a licence. Write it down. Plan it carefully.
  • And then make it happen!

Ripples from Nieu Bethesda

Make it personal …

  • Winny talks about how we interact with others around us in the same way that a ripple in water goes far beyond itself. How have you affected those around you in the past three days? Did their interaction with your “ripple” change their mindsets and their lives in a positive way? Are they better for having been in touch with you?
  • And how will a change in your life as an entrepreneur “ripple” to your community? What could change that would make life a bit better for all around you?
  • Plan one “ripple” and ACTION it this week!
